Cat is not Fifi. We both looked at her and agreed that she is no Fifi. Her name on her passport will be Chloé. She does look like a Chloé, we think. We have promised Chloé that we will not change her name/our minds again.

A Gift for Dusty
As Cat was in the house when Mr L returned from walking the dog, he boxed her up and headed off to the vet to make an appointment but in the hope that they might just fit her in. They couldn’t, so he was soon home again and she is due for her rendezvous on Monday morning. Cat will be needing a name for her passport. We have decided on Fifi as Mr L will
A cat and mouse game
Dusty was very much off it last night. Not himself at all. This morning however he is full of spark again. Turns out that he is as much of a dairy fiend as his predecessor Treacle was. I had much difficulty in eating my yogurt unaided this morning. Having decided last night that Cat would be needing a passport if she can be persuaded to travel with us, we were up and at ’em early
Those sausages
Those Thai sausages that I mentioned earlier? Well, they did not appear promising when unwrapped. However, they smelled fine and we elected to forge ahead. I popped them into the Air Fryer after Googling and establishing a guide of 180C for 15 minutes. No added fat and no pricking. After 5 minutes they were looking far more appealing, plump and juicy. After 10 minutes they had shrunk considerably. I thought perhaps enough was enough. In
It’s a blue one
We have been having a rare day today, cool, cloudy and just a little damp. I have been taking advantage of increased energy levels to rearrange the mess in the house and to clear up some kitchen leftovers. The Crooked Man and the Not-so-crooked-cat have been out to visit the vet. The vet agrees with us that Dusty is probably around 3 months old, perhaps a little less. Old enough anyway to have his injections
A Fete not yet accompli
Rural France is characterised in Summer by the seemingly constant round of Fêtes, Foires and a wide range of special markets and festivals of all kinds (one local one coming up is a celebration of Melons and Garlic!) Every Commune, no matter how small, seems to host its own event and not a one of them is complete without some kind of Repas. Our Maison Celle event on Tuesday was a very special and a-typical
Just imagine
Imagine, if you will, a small village in South West France. Scarcely more than a hamlet, just a farm and a few houses. It sits astride a quiet Departmental road.
Yesterday, had you been driving along that D road you might have thought it a ghost village as you passed by. Doors closed, not a soul about. …
Definitely a Thing
I need to report that Beetroot with Raspberry Vinegar is definitely A Thing. Over here it is rare to find raw beetroot. It mostly comes ready boiled, though not pre-packed. This is a bit of a shame as I do enjoy my beetroot roasted. However, it is highly convenient to be able to pick up a ready boiled beet and just skin and chop it for a salad. Tonight I conducted further experiments with the
Trouble with a Capital T
Today is the day that Dusty stopped being Cute and became Trouble. Today was the day when Dusty learned that thing about leaping up onto the bed, tearing across the pillows above our heads, jumping off, running round and doing it again… Today was the day when Dusty found his way up onto the bathroom worktop and thoroughly tested Gravity was in place today. Today was the day when Dusty discovered the bathroom hand basin.
Me and my tummy (yummy)
We were out and about on Monday, to Limoges. We had hoped to buy a ladder in order to tackle the wasp nests in the roof but were unlucky. However, we were able to explore the Limoges branch of Grand Frais and to bring some goodies home. We also visited an Asian supermarket and treated ourselves to a steel wok. The heat was almost unbearable. We had the 12v cooler box but it wasn’t coping
