Here, there, everywhere – and nowhere at all

Where do all these yawning gaps come from? Aha – this time I have the answer – I have been busy updating Scattered Thoughts! After a couple of very long posts, time and energy were lacking for coming here to write and as little else had happened other than a shopping delivery or two, it seemed unimportant. Also spending far too much time at Facebook, which I am trying to give up but it keeps onContinue readingHere, there, everywhere – and nowhere at all

The Cold Light of Day

Nell’s excessive drinking and urination have ramped up considerably. Hence I was outside at a little past 2 am this morning, by which time the car was already covered in a sparkling frost. On the 6 am toilet run, the world was looking fairly well white all over (as viewed through the window from my bed, that is). When we first came house-hunting around here there was snow on the ground (apparently a once inContinue readingThe Cold Light of Day

A void

Really wanting to get this diary thing going but another day passed with nothing written. Not much happening. I washed towels and got them out on the line. They didn’t dry well due to a drop in air temperature. We lit the fire. I cooked. Trying hard to return to low carb eating, so we had a healthy but tasty meal. I roasted cod wrapped in prosciutto, served on a tomato and pepper sauce andContinue readingA void

To summarise…

Currently in the third week of Lockdown v2.0, with week four commencing at midnight on this coming Thursday. Today is Day 20 and I am missing a few posts! We haven’t been doing a great deal – hence, I suppose the lack of diary postings. What has there been to note? “not much,” I thought, but in fact some fairly important/momentous stuff has been happening. We have applied for our new Cartes de Sejour, requiredContinue readingTo summarise…

Lidl Lidl Yum

I was saying, if you recall, that we have renewed our Date Night activities because that really helped me to get through Lockdown v1.0. … Continue readingLidl Lidl Yum

Keeping Busy

Almost fell at the first hurdle today. It has been a very busy one, leaving little time to visit the blog. The day has been spent between laundry and kitchen. It was too good a day not to catch up on the post-trip washing, so I tackled that in between the necessary task of checking food stores and meal planning. We shopped on Thursday, on our way home from our final stop at Capdenac. IContinue readingKeeping Busy

Déja Vu

Here we are: Lockdown v2.0 began at midnight last night. We arrived home from a month-long trip just after lunchtime yesterday, squeaking in under the wire rather better than we did in March, when we were an hour or two late and had to come home, attestation in hand. Lockdown v1 did not gain as much of my attention here as it should have done. It has been pointed out to me how important itContinue readingDéja Vu

Bare Naked

We are home again, after a month-long trip away. A trip during which I completely failed to get my laptop out. It was good to come home. We were driving along, close to Le Dorat at the time, when I felt that “aren’t we fortunate to live in such a lovely part of France” feeling washing over me. I had a sudden urge to invite all my friends to come and stay and to shareContinue readingBare Naked

A Month in France: Nothing is Lost

I am lagging on the Month in the Country prompts, and lagging badly at that. I have a list of prompts t be caught up on and I shall be working my way through them here, or at Scattered Thoughts depending on where the post most naturally sits. I have elected to tackle the prompts not in date order necessarily but to seize upon prompts that offer me space in which to write down the things that I am feeling the need to say. Even if I need to crowbar it in. The thing is, I am going to continue to be short of time and space in which to write and so a two-for-one is useful and I hope to do as many of those as I can. Seems like a plan? … Continue readingA Month in France: Nothing is Lost

Oh, deer

Nell and I had a lovely walk this morning. The weather has cooled considerably and there was a very pleasant breeze. We both made better time than of late. … Continue readingOh, deer
